Education ebook
Social and Emotional Aspects of Learning by S Jarvela.
Social and emotional aspects of schooling and the learning environment can dramatically affect one's attention, understanding, and memory for learning. This topic has been of increasing interest in both psychology and education, leading to an entire section being devoted to it in the third edition of the International Encyclopedia of Education. Thirty-three articles from the Encyclopedia form this concise reference which focuses on such topics as social and emotional development, anxiety in schools, effects of mood on motivation, peer learning, and friendship and social networks. Saves researchers time in summarizing in one place what is otherwise an interdisciplinary field in cognitive psychology, personality, sociology, and education. Level of presentation focuses on critical research, leaving out the extraneous and focusing on need to know information

CHCH101
A message from the team leading the CHCH101 course:
We're getting stoked about the launch of CHCH101!
Friday, 15 July, 4-5 PM, Jack Mann Auditorium at College of Education
This will be a unique course kick-off with some stories from the front lines of post-quake service. Student Volunteer Army leaders, Jade Rutherford and Jason Pemberton, will share about what motivated them to get mucked in and lead 9,000 of their fellow Cantabrians.
Additionally, the hardest working band in Lyttleton, The Eastern, will describe and demonstrate what they've been doing to provide musical relief from the quakes.
Please invite your mates, regardless of whether they're enrolled in the course, to come along with you and share in reflecting on the most significant events of the past year - the quakes and many of our responses to them.
Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow,
Billy & Lane

Central Library and Learning Hub
At this time the James HIght tower has not been returned to the library by the contractors however Library staff do have access to most floors for shelving and retrievals. Level 4 has been most affected by lack of access since September 2010. Provided library staff maintain access to level 4 I estimate that all books will be available within 3 weeks. I cannot guarantee access by the UC community but library staff should be able to retrieve from the entire collection by this time.

Manager, Central Library and Learning Hub

Warm-ish
Studying in the Education Library has many benefits. You will be less distracted than at home, your power bill will be lower and we have many of the resources on hand that you require. Bookable study rooms mean you can have group study meetings and not disturb others.
The first floor of the library is where to sit if you do not mind a little noise. If it is a quiet study area that you need, then head up the stairs to the second floor.
